First, we have moved to Saugerties and now have our office space at 171 Ulster Avenue and our performance space is just a walk down the street to 169 Ulster Avenue. It could be the kind word said to a friend or family member who is experiencing a trying time in their life. It could be when someone has a sad look on their face and you lend them an ear. It could be the gift that is placed in the hands of someone who needs to feel the embrace of an others kindness. Today was very special. After 30 months and an enormous amount of daily time and money..a dream happened today. People are starting to get our mission. The Arts are creating the change and Stella May Productions and Second Chance 4 Me are finally being heard. Thank you God! The path will still be challenging but the road is being paved by wonderful people who are also adding to our vision. Many important groups, agencies and individuals are coming together to accomplish life changing situations and events for people in need. The importance of collaborative efforts has never been as important as it is at this time. People need to listen better and understand that it is the joint effort and the positive outcome that matters most. Let's continue to be vibrant and helpful to those around us and make sure that we lend a helping hand when needed. Thanks for listening.

Action!

I find myself thinking and feeling about making things happen. The natural state of affairs that occur with people of Action is that they are ready and positioned to move forward without much prodding. Discussions have there place in time and space but it is Action that takes the lead and makes results more visible to the viewing public. We can make ready with plans, forums, groups and committees, yet the Action person takes that type of thinking to another level. Our souls and spirits stir with passion and conviction and yet the unleashing of movement is what gets things churning. Simply expressed: the lights don't turn on unless you flick the switch. I like to flick the switch and I see better in the light. Thanks for listening.

I am blessed to be a part of this journey called LIFE. My good fortune to have met many wonderful people on this journey has made it even more special and productive. Having my May in my life fills me beyond words. I have lost much on my journey, had my share of sadness and tragedy but there is no looking back. On the eve of my 64th birthday I have but one wish. A time before this I had wished for other things but that didn't happen but Second Chance 4 Me did happen. My wish is basic, free of any under lying wishes and yet bold in its nature. Come in a little closer....I wish for others to help me in my quest to help as many people as I can. That's it. Thanks for listening.

While on the journey of life I have honed my spirit to listen and see the good in people. My GPS (good people skills) has enabled me to temper my soul, feed my spirit, guide my thoughts and direct my actions in a sensitive and passionate way. During my career as a special education teacher I was able to blend difficult situations with a calmness that promoted unity as opposed to alienating the group. In the next stages of my life as a business owner I have utilized the same approach. Over time I can see and feel the results of a strong spirit finally being viewed while possibly not understood but yet having to be dealt with. Thank God for purpose and humility because without them we indulge ourselves in false acts of self-importance. While we all are vital in the fabric of life, some need to realize that as we spread the fabric out we are all important in the design and not just one piece taking up the entire focus. Be willing to be a blend of the colors, texture and design and not worry about the singular essence of your importance. The listening and seeing has to be felt and captured to truly feel the kiss of life on our cheek. With a humble soul I wish you ALL warmth and kindness on your journey.

The thing that people say will happen over time. The thing that some say takes more time than you have. You know the thing I am talking about...the thing you think about all the time. The thing that when you were a kid you expected to happen when you became an adult. That thing, the thing that drives us every single day. This is a very interesting phrase. Some people/groups can make things happen. They blend the creative juices, stir the vibrant ideas and mix in the energy of people and before you can say....IT IS DONE. At Stella May Productions we do exactly that. On a daily basis the dream moves forward. Pleasantly and with heart and soul we move forward. Thank God for spirit and passion because when they are rubbed together a flame ignites. Our continued passion to bring quality performances to our (2) stages is a continuing journey. The Stella stage and the May stage have already established the presence of the theatre in our community. We hope to expand our recognition beyond the local city of Kingston, NY. Our focus is the entire county and beyond. The talent pool in the Hudson Valley is enormous. Our venue is an opportunity to showcase the artists in an atmosphere that brings back the old city venues that had the vibe to start off and the talent just made it ROCK! We have more on our mission plate than entertainment however. We need your help to establish Part II. Our membership packages are our way to remain solvent. We take 30% of that money and re-invest it into the parent company: Second Chance 4 Me. That company HELPS people. We have two projects on the table. We need funds to film a documentary on our friend Will and we need tuition for our friend Hector to get certified as a trainer. I have received many suggestions when it comes to social media. Many aspects of the process still confuse me but I push forward. Some say it's too much others say you should do it this way and others say do it that way. Well folks, I am doing it from my heart and that is the only way I operate. This weekend we are co-producing a play with our new friend Pam Tate. We are all very excited about this project. Local actors have come together, lighting people, stage hands and my student from 31 years ago Joe, is helping out with props. My excitement stems from the feelings that come from bringing people and activities together. Maybe it's the retired teacher in me. My joy not only comes from the production but the process as well. It truly has been a process to savor. Please, if you see this request more than once or if you hear about it from another source..please appreciate the effort that it takes to bring an idea from ones mind and soul and build it into a viable entity with very little financial support but with a tremendous amount of heart. Supporting the ARTS!

I spoke with my friend Maria today and we were both discussing our work. She is an opera singer connected to Phoenicia International Festival of the Voice and I am connected to Stella May Productions. Our conversation got around to supporting the Arts. We both agree, she as a performer and promoter and I as a promoter and Gallery/Theatre owner that local support is key to what we do in the Arts. Sometimes by just calling up or visiting and with a friendly smile finding out what is going on in the neighborhood could result in finding small treasures. I never want anyone to feel that the new kids on the block are trying to manifest a new approach to taking over and pushing people away. The more we work together the better off we all are. People who visit want a vast diversification of venues to pick from. They in turn tell their friends and more people come into the area. We pride ourselves in our culture, the number of artists in the area and we should also pride ourselves in the number of venues we have. My words are not intended to provoke but instead promote the willingness to share the richness we have in the Arts right here in the Hudson Valley. Thanks for listening.

Sometimes we all feel like Lucy when we have to explain to a Ricky what is going on. I have noticed on my journey in life how many people don't get certain things. That's fine.....I don't mind explaining things to others. What becomes tiresome is the lack of listening and cognitive processing that doesn't go into understand the elements and concepts that are being presented on a regular bases. I have several suggestions that may help in these difficult situations. When you learn about a new idea, place or product take the time to listen to the presentation and try to absorb the point being made. Remove some of your bias nature and look at it from a fresh perspective. Sometimes things are really what they say they are. More importantly, give a person or group a chance to explain their points, passion and perspective. It could lead to progress, prosperity and productivity. Thanks for listening.

We are very excited to be presenting Pam's play. The cast are all fairly local and very excited to have a new live theatre venue to perform at. Our goal from the very beginning of this journey was to bring to Kingston and Ulster County a small performance space that promotes all the ARTS. We believe a community prospers when cultural events are actively discussed and promoted by local businesses and the community in its entirety. The Arts bring people together, they heal, they invite the public to visit shops and restaurants that are around the venue and they also lead to businesses moving into the area. I invite all art patrons to not only visit our venue but visit all the wonderful performance spaces in the area. We can all feel for the person who has to start over. The feelings are almost wordless. Time moves through the veil of the day and finally the moment comes when you must start over. Even closer, "The First Day". You hope it is event less from the prospective that all around allow you to move through their space...and slowly you feel you can create your own space. Some look at it as a second chance and others have no contribution in the re-entry process. This day has major significance to those who breathe the new air that was stolen or given up by their lose of the sacred compass of life. When we see, hear or feel the presence of a "First day" for someone: please lend a kind word, soft gesture or simple response to that individual and let them know that there are more days that follow. Thank You.

Teaching Others.

You don't have to be a teacher to instruct others.What you have to be is someone who truly cares about giving good, sound advice. Advice you yourself would be able to digest and be fueled by. It's easy to pontificate about things but the actual walk is an entirely different set of muscles and emotions. This topic is on my mind because of the issues we face at this time. Our constant concern about topics we all have committed to memory have drained us of certain basic traits we have forgotten to share. The act of concern for others is monumental: we seem to protect our deeded plot as if we are a prospector from the old west. Reaching out and helping each other is huge in today's climate. Join forces and watch how the spirit learns to forge new strength from the collective. We need to sit and chat about how collectively we can solve the issues. Each party brings their spirit to the table. If the table can hold the collective and if the parties are willing to collaborate a solution will rise from the discussion. We teach one another on the journey. Sometimes the leader is the collective action of the group and not the individual in charge. Be strong in your willingness to be humble and the art of teaching will be experienced by the results.

Yesterday was our Ribbon Cutting Ceremony. Stephen and I were very excited to watch our dream become a reality. Since we are a performance venue, we had the ribbon cutting on our smaller stage. Speaking for myself, I was thrilled to look out in the audience and see people who have supported us along the way applauding our efforts. This has been an amazing journey for us. New friends have come into the mix and I'm sure more will come in the future. I love the fact that our gallery theatre has become a hub for the Arts. It Sure Isn't Easy!

OK, some people do make things look easy. Turn on your TV set and watch any number of food shows, home improvement shows and you get the picture. We, who live in the real world understand the effort it takes to get from point A to B. First you have to think: is this necessary and do I really need this? Then you decide the cost factors and how the price will be justified to the common council (family) and how they will buy into the changes, effort and time to make this come to reality. Still more pondering and debate and after days, weeks or more the decision is made. Now, we didn't specify the project or any of the particulars because it could be just about anything that comes up that you feel is essential. The expression now comes into play, "It sure isn't easy", when you factor in the aspect that we are ordinary individuals working diligently in a world designed to have life forces working in opposite polar direction. Still, make it happen through hard work and the willingness to push yourself to the extreme. Good luck folks in all your endeavors and always remember that the end result is most often very satisfying.

The Blink of an Eye.

Time, for all of us has a way of sneaking through our lives and disappearing very quickly. We first notice this when we are young and we want that extra hour to stay up and not miss any grown up activities. We next noticed it when a visit to a favorite relative ended and we felt we just arrived. Still another, was when we had a curfew and it didn't seem like anything got started till an hour after we got home. Today, time has a way of blinking by when we watch loved ones come and go and family members grow and leave before we realize it. As I watch the hand carved years move forward for me I noticed my career come and go with a blink of my eye. Sometimes I want to stare at the moment and not move the sleeve of change one second. My soul is eased by the fact that moments are more cherished and focused upon as the years churn out. There is no need to fill the basket of dreams as much but more importantly to use wisely all the ingredients in the basket. No waste no mess just the clarity of love and devotion. I wish you all: long stares, more moments and especially wide eyed enjoyment.

To all the people who need good thoughts and good energy, I deliver a simple message. Sometimes we have more to be thankful for than we realize. Our hearts are still humble, loved ones still care, friends are around, food is on the table and our focus may be cloudy but the picture is still in view. THINK of those less fortunate and rise up and make the most of what you have. Look back and be less critical of the past and how the future has a new foundation built solely on your own incentives. Make sure you point out to yourself the positive aspects of the day and not the obvious disappointments that take more time to correct. Allow the good in the day to be your nourishment and not the negative which eats away and corrodes your soul. Be thankful and proud that YOU are still on the JOURNEY.

Sometimes taking one step is an effort especially when you have dropped your compass. Don't panic, help within is on the way. Our life experiences have certainly enabled us to reach targeted destinations before. Let's try and remember the positive aspects of those trips and make the effort to re-link those positive movements. At times we forget to listen to the good friend within, make that connection again and make sure you treat yourself well this time. Our actions speak volumes about who we are. As we adjust the dials of our moods let's also keep in mind how our actions have caused reactions with our family and friends. Take the time to establish the fact that you are truly interested in others and not just what you have to add to the pot. All people want to be heard and recognized. Now is the time to give the credit to those who have made the difference in your life. We are truly what we speak and it is time to listen to our heart, act with our soul and produce with integrity.

The 3 D's are very important to me. We all hopefully have a mantra we follow and maintain during difficult times that enables us to RISE above the current dilemma. Sometimes our spirits are low and we find it difficult to listen to even the simplest of suggestions. When this happens take your time and find a comfortable seat and rest for a moment. Our life has caught up with us. Our movements, spirit and consciousness have converged and made a detour to the couch. How do we get up, move forward and become contributors in our life once again? Strong questions which need powerful answers. Let's work on the 3 D's...DRIVE-DESIRE-DETERMINATION.
The answers will come in time and my blog will fill in some spaces. Remember however, that in order to R-I-S-E (re-enforce inner self esteem) one has to believe in something that has relevance in their life. Start to believe in yourself, your abilities and most of all in your willingness to adjust to your environment. Be safe on your journey.

Today our friend Will is moving into his new apartment. An amazing accomplishment for this young man. Please view his video below. When an individual has turned his/her life around, it certainly deserves a mention and a little time to reflect on the accomplishment. We all have a moment in time when we stand still and reflect on who and what we are and have become. Some of us choose to blink at this reflected moment and not still the frame of our lives and bare witness to our own ups and downs. Our friend Will has reflected and has looked in the mirror and he stands tall in the reflection of his own success. Stephen and I are both proud of his new path and support the effort he is making to start over as a motivational speaker. Listening...

Sometimes a very difficult process to master or just not as important as it once was. We have all experienced times when we felt our words had no airport or resting place. Today we can email, text, facebook, twitter, google and myspace. They all have a platform that satiates our desire to share and communicate the impulsive needs to express momentary explosions of importance. However, listening is still the "Holy Grail" of individual strength. The more we can listen to our inner self and be careful with the interpretation: we can also learn to listen to the sounds and feelings of others and realize how true connections are made. Silence has a way of trafficking our inner being to the portal of our true self when the process is pure and non-combative. Take the time to truly listen to others. Make their moment distinct and relevant by focusing on them and the words they utter. Do not miss the exchange by thinking about your retort or greater need. Be captured by their enthusiasm and respond with your heartfelt interest. Remember, listening requires a volley of responses that demonstrate interest/concern/and kindness. We can learn more through listening and at the same time make someones day more pleasant. Enjoy your journey and please, listen to the sounds of one another.

Sensations...

I love and appreciate sensations. When the camera of our brain captures the moment and all the sensations vibrate back to the soul an excited message: I live for that moment.I treasure the special feeling when we are in love and not just the passionate love but the love that fills our lungs, brings us to tears and erupts in our skin like hair on end love that keeps us afloat in life. I see and feel that during my journey each day. Sometimes it freezes me in my tracks, or brings me to chin trembling episodes or just an eye cup full of tears. Oh God I love those sensations. I realize at times they are quick moments but they are sustaining moments. I want to fill them in a photo album of stored emotional memories. They are just to special to be felt only once at that heightened level. I want more. And yes, I missed out on many moments that were only imagined in my mind because of a lost number of loves. Our path in life sometimes removes the sensors that prevents us from feeling certain emotions. We need to take care of ourselves and be sure that the beauty of life and the simple pleasures are still warmly felt in our embrace. Today and everyday enjoy your own personal SENSATIONS.

THE SEVEN HEART STRINGS

I believe our life is made up of a collection of heart strings we grow and develop on our journey in life. When all the heart strings are blended together the true music of an individual is played. The symphony of life is not written for a single instrument or a single individual, it is played by a full orchestra in the concert of one’s life.

Each string is acquired on the path of life and twisted and forged by our actions and deeds. The strings melodic sound is infinitely more pleasant when it is conducted by the heart. The blending of sounds is more in tune when we vibrate with the sounds of unison around us. Our goal from birth to final resting is to tune these strings to make the most beautiful sounds that are possible from the instrument of our being. Our sounds are adjusted by the responses we hear from those around us. As our sound penetrates our loved ones, inspires our peers, transcends our community and evokes ease of body and soul to countless others we have reached the full orchestration of our spirits sound and we are ready to record the music of our lives.

Each of us has a set of heart strings. Some of us choose to make music daily some of us forget how to play. The strings are named by the willingness we exhibit in our journey through life. My strings are named:

1. Appreciation-For one’s life, others and for opportunities.

2. Respect-For family, friends, nature and all that live.

3. Humbleness-For all above and below.

4. Conscience-For my actions for they are my fingerprints in life.

5. Character-For it establishes our presence in all settings.

6. Perseverance-It maintains my DRIVE-DESIRE-DETERMINATION.

7. Love-This act allows me to demonstrate my deep commitment to those closest to me.

I like to think and believe we all have a wealth of emotions stored inside our souls. Some of us release them on special occasions, some conserve them for only family and others dispense them more regularly on contact with other emotional people. Emotions have driven us to madness, tormented us to disaster and lifted us to levels of greatness. At a time when all we say and do could be heard by the World in seconds, let's reflect on the importance of our emotions and how they can lead us to becoming more whole and human at the same time. One of the most difficult aspects to our genetic makeup is developing the trait of being a patient traveler. On our journey we see the brass ring and we immediately snatch for it. Be careful, sometimes that spinning circle we are on doesn't give us the balance we need to reach and grab in a straight forward movement. Time has a way to educate the person who wants to learn and has a way to punish the close minded individual who has trouble seeing the opportunities before him. When you see the brass ring please check the following: does it have significance in my life, does it belong to me or should it be shared with others and most importantly, will it have been..WORTH THE WAIT.

The Learning Curve.

As a retired teacher I am accustomed to a structured routine. Now that I am a business owner I can see that my conditioning has helped me tremendously. I am a great believer of transitional skills, we all have them. Now that I wear several hats once again it is easy to slip on one hat while still maintaining the brim of another. The art of multi-tasking does have many benefits. My greatest pleasure when I am working is the creative juices that still flow from my being. They are all connected to the task of helping others.
When you have a minute...please look at the video on our friend Will. We are just about finished with all the work needed for kickstarter. I will be applying next week. Our goal is to film a short documentary on this remarkable young man who has turned his life around.
My opening comment on transitional skills is a point I make with all individuals who are looking to make a change in their life and vocation. Just relax and allow your spirit to direct you in the right direction. This isn't magic, just the ability to learn more about yourself and a chance to start believing in the inner spirit. I took a trip down memory lane this morning. May and I took our savings, my pension money and 5 credit cards, small rents from our houses and started Second Chance 4 Me. It's over two years later, we moved and we have a new partner Stephen Tenner. I live with one of my expressions in my mind always: DRIVE-DESIRE-DETERMINATION. Please check this video we did about 18 months ago. We no longer have several components, we moved and we still produce quality work. I am proud of our SPIRIT.

Having a theatre is a big responsibility. We have chosen to stay private and not apply for a 501 (c) (3). In order for us to stay functional: we have come up with a plan that will help us, the local community and those in need. Stephen and I have designed a four tier membership program.

Art Patron $100.00 Blue Membership Card, 2 Free Tickets, Business Card ad in (1) Art Bill, 10% discount on event space rental, future tickets, classes and future ads.
Production $200.00 Bronze Membership Card, 4 Free Tickets, 1/4 Page ad in (1) Art Bill, 15% discount on event space rental, future tickets, classes and future ads.
Producer $300.00 Silver membership Card, 6 Free Tickets, 1/2 Page ad in (1) Art Bill, 20% discount on event space rental, future tickets, classes and future ads.
Director $600.00 Gold Membership Card, 12 Free Tickets, Full Page Ad in (1) Art Bill, 25% discount on event space rental, future tickets, classes and future ads.

We also will donate 30% of our membership fee to our fund drive to help others. Others could mean organizations needing help for their non-profit, or it could be to a family or individual in need. A Second Chance for Second Chance 4 Me.

Wow! Where do I begin. I know, "Art on the Line". The weekend of October 1-2-3 was exciting, hectic and expensive. It was going to be my last stand to make this dream of mine happen. Well, the event happened and it was a financial disaster. However, it did have some amazing results. I met a man named Stephen W. Tenner and was immediately taken by his kindness, quick thinking abilities and his tenacity. Stephen is now my partner and I am very proud of our new venture: Stella May Productions.
When we moved out of our old place on Broadway in Kingston, NY, I was sad. My heart and soul went into building a gallery, theatre space and tunnel gallery that wound up being just a dream. Not true. I was taken to a new space by a man named Mike Piazza who owns several industrial buildings in the area. His big heart and love for the arts helped me move in with a fair rent for a potential theatre and production company.
Stephen and I with the help of 2 other volunteers converted office space into a 140 seat theatre. We also have a suite of offices off the wing of the theatre. We have our offices that include an editing suite, graphic arts room, screening room, conference room, our office and a rental suite for visiting editors. Thank You Mike Piazza for your help and understanding with this project. We are now shooting commercials, developing reels for actors, shooting music videos, producing plays, housing a jazz series and promoting the arts through our gallery theatre. A SECOND CHANCE 4 ME!
